The league

About SWMHL

A summer mixed hockey competition built to give clubs more meaningful hockey, more often.

Why we exist

Competitive enough to matter. Simple enough to enjoy.

The South Wales Mixed Hockey League gives clubs a structured summer competition outside the traditional winter season. It is designed around competitive matches, mixed squads, clear divisions and a finals event — without loading captains with unnecessary bureaucracy.

01

More hockey

A meaningful summer playing window for clubs and players.

02

Mixed by design

A competition built around mixed hockey rather than treating it as an add-on.

03

Low-friction operations

Clear fixtures and results without creating administration for the sake of it.

04

A proper finish

Divisional play-offs and Finals give each season a clear destination.

How it works

One summer. Three divisions. A finals finish.

  1. League phase

Teams compete within their division across the summer.

  2. Final standings

The regular-season table establishes the play-off seeds.

  3. Play-offs

The leading teams progress into the post-season.

  4. Finals

Each division ends with a championship final.

Our story

From 16 teams to 20 in one season.

SWMHL began in 2025 and expanded for Season II in 2026. The aim remains straightforward: create more high-quality mixed hockey opportunities and make the competition feel worth being part of.
